Mutual Funds Product Development Manager

Our client, a $110 Billion Asset Management Firm is looking for a Product Development Manager to join their Marketing team. The ideal understands financial markets and products, and has strong analytical and writing skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks. Additionally, the ideal candidate understands the asset management business and investment products across multiple strategies (equity, multi asset class and alternative investments) and investment vehicles (i.e. open-end mutual funds, collective trusts, ETFs).  This is a robust role and involves utilizing multiple databases such as Morningstar Direct, Lipper and eVestment to perform ongoing competitive research, building product presentations and proposals for senior management and managing a product throughout the entire product cycle.  This job is located in the greater NYC/metro area.

About the Job:

  • Partner with Investment Management, Strategy, Distribution and Senior Management to identify, scope and prioritize new product ideas and product enhancements that will evolve and differentiate the company’s products.
  • Monitor industry trends impacting the product line to leverage the firm’s investment capabilities 
  • Develop creative approaches to structuring pooled vehicles, managed accounts and other new products that lend themselves to differentiation and profitability
  • Research and build a comprehensive analysis for new strategies, with particular emphasis on competitive factors, market demand, strategic fit, pricing, operational and business complexity issues
  • Analyze the overall institutional and retail competitive marketplace and industry trends for on-going and ad hoc reporting
  • Work with cross functional teams including representatives from portfolio management, legal, compliance, operations, finance, sales and marketing in executing product initiatives for new and existing products
  • Develop product presentations, proposals and recommendations
  • Maintain various documents and databases for recent product launches and changes, as well as future initiatives
  • Maintain on-going competitor universe reporting for existing strategies 

About You:

  • At least 5 years of experience of relevant product experience 
  • Strong knowledge of the asset management industry both retail and institutional
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with varying priorities 
  • Demonstrated project management experience 
  • BA/BS Degree; MBA or CFA preferred (not required) 
  • Strong MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Morningstar Direct, Lipper, and eVestment  skills

Product Development Associate - Alternatives

Our client, a successful, privately-held global financial services firm is seeking a Product Development Associate to join their team.  The Product Development Group as a whole is responsible for evaluating new business opportunities, product design, deal structuring and execution with Asset Management and other Financial Institutions clients.  The team also works closely with senior management in setting business strategy.  This position is located in New York, NY.

About the Job:

  • Prepare presentation materials for use in client meetings
  • Prepare internal senior management presentations
  • Analyze potential business and product opportunities
  • Research industry trends and coordinate efforts with other team members across Sales and Marketing, Legal, Risk and Operations

About You: 

  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years’ experience in financial services with familiarity with hedge funds and hedge fund strategies, excellent analytical and communication skills and have a team player mindset. 
  • Completion of an investment banking training program and/or experience with structured products is highly desirable
  • Demonstrate independent mindset and the ability to take a project to completion with limited guidance
