Analyst, Latin American Credit, NYC

Our client, a large global bank, requires an experienced credit analyst based in NYC to focus on Latin American banking transactions.

About the Job:

  • Manage credit process of a designated portfolio of Latin American assets by analyzing credit risk, preparing detailed credit analysis and credit applications, determining accurate ratings and making recommendations to management
  • Function as a subject expert with regard to particular industries/industry subsectors and maintain most updated knowledge on assigned industries through internal/external sources and direct communication with the borrowers
  • Prescreen proposed transactions to identify critical structural issues and risks, balancing institutional policy with business development needs
  • Handle quantitative work required to structure transactions (including securitizations, etc.)
  • Work as a member of deal team to identify business opportunities
  • Advise Relationship Managers on credit risk issues/terms and conditions to create the best possible deal with a goal of maximizing profit and minimizing credit cost.
  • Attend bank and client meeting when appropriate

About You:

  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • Strong quantitative as well as qualitative analytical skills
  • Strong knowledge of the economic and political environments of the Latin American countries
  • Proficiency in English (oral and written), and strong writing skills
  • Fluent in Spanish and/or Portuguese language preferred
  • Able to work independently and under pressure
  • Formal credit training and advanced degree

Private Equity Analyst

Our client is involved in the development, ownership and operation of power assets in Latin America.  Due to expansion they are looking for a Miami based analyst to assist in business development and then asset management.  This position is based in Miami, FL.

About the Job:

  • Perform company and industry analysis, financial modeling, valuation by DCF etc.
  • Participate in due diligence and all other deal related activities
  • Interact directly with the senior management, directors and owners/shareholders of potential acquisitions and portfolio companies and be fully involved in all stages of deals
  • Substantial travel to the region is required

About You:

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in M&A and investment banking or at an infrastructure fund
  • Deal experience in Latin America 
  • Expertise in utilizing Excel for modeling
  • Ability to develop PowerPoint presentations
  • Capacity to grow into a deal leader and negotiator
  • Complete English and Spanish fluency both verbally and written
  • Capacity to work independently and manage an intense agenda
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and capacity to serve on target company boards
